Tasting Notes: The Nose is rich turbinado syrup, almonds, candied orange peel and vanilla extract with hints of black pepper. The mouth is dry in texture and transitions into mouthwatering. The finish is a medium chocolate.
About: Four Gate Whiskey Company released their second annual private barrels. The 2022 barrels consisted of single barrel bottlings, 10-Year Indiana bourbon, 9-year-old Straight Rye Whiskey, 7-year-old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, and 7-year-old Straight Rye Whiskey. The barrels have been bottled either as private select casks purchased by stores and consumers, or as “selected by the CBOs of Four Gate, referring to Chief Barrel Officer, D’Antoni, and Chief Blending Officer, Straub. All the single barrel bottles have custom labels with custom-cut and burned wooden neck tags. Mash Bills of the Private Select Cask Rye is 95% Rye and 5% Malted Barley. The two Kentucky Straight bourbons share a mash bill of 75% Corn, 21% Rye, and 4% Malted Barley.
